Manchester Co-op Credit Union empowering its members, the community and the youth

The Manchester Co-op Credit Union started off Credit Union Week 2022 with the aim of ‘Empowering the Community’.
The first activity was a church service at the Spring Ground Missionary Church in Christiana on October 16. The Credit Union then went into high gear when their team made a visit to the Gift of Hope Children’s Home (part of the Mustard Seed Community), located in the Spur Tree area of the parish on October 18. This was the location for their ‘Soup and Soap’ outreach project, which involved the handing out of food and toiletries to the home.
The week of celebrations continued on October 19 with their Members Appreciation Day at the Christiana branch. October 20, International Credit Union Day, saw them hosting Members Appreciation Day at the Mandeville branch, while offering free mammograms to 20 of their members in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Both appreciation days saw their members being treated to refreshment and souvenir items, with increased staff interaction.
Prior to the start of Credit Union Week, the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union undertook the awarding of their Sydney Carter Scholarship and bursaries and PEP bursaries to students at the tertiary and secondary levels, respectively. This was staged on October 15 at an awards banquet held at the Mandeville Hotel. The occasion saw the credit union investing over $2 million in education by awarding 31 students with the financial assistance needed to enhance their educational pursuits.
