MCCU Financial Literacy Month: ‘Reach and Teach’ School Tour
The month of April was observed as Financial Literacy Month, and the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (MCCU) ensured it played its part in sharing insightful information on how to become financially literate. This was achieved through several initiatives:
Held April 10 under the theme ‘Securing Your Future With MCCU’, featuring discussions on Understanding Credit, Cybersecurity and Insurance for You and the Family, open to members and non-members in person and virtually.
Throughout April, the eight components of financial literacy were posted across the credit union’s social media platforms, each introducing a different component with real examples of how it is applied.
A targeted initiative raising awareness on saving, opening an account and budgeting. The team visited Bishop Gibson High, Alphansus Davis High and May Day High, with a hands-on ‘Budgeting Challenge’.
MCCU joined the Credit Unions of Jamaica for the Financial Literacy Forum and Reality Fair on April 29, providing valuable financial education and a practical budgeting exercise to high school students.
