Over $4.5 Million in Scholarships and Bursaries
A record 41 students, 21 at the primary level and 20 at the tertiary level, received financial assistance for the 2024 to 2025 academic year, marking history for the credit union’s scholarship programme.

On Friday, August 23, 2024, the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union awarded over $4.5 million in Scholarships and Bursaries to students returning to school for the 2024 to 2025 academic year.
The awards ceremony, held at the Tropics View Hotel, saw a total of twenty-one (21) students receiving PEP Bursaries to assist with the start of their secondary education.

As the presentations progressed, another twenty (20) students, this time at the tertiary level, received financial assistance in the form of Scholarships and Bursaries.
The Sydney Carter Scholarship, named after one of the Credit Union’s founders, was for the first time awarded to three (3) students simultaneously. These students will be pursuing their respective Bachelor’s Degrees at the University of the West Indies and will be fully covered for the next three (3) years. The remaining seventeen (17) students received Bursaries to assist with the cost of their tuition for this academic year.
It was truly history in the making for the Manchester Co-operative Credit Union: a record amount of funds paid out to a record number of students since the scholarship began in 1988.
The milestone reflects MCCU’s long-standing commitment to education and to the young members and families it serves across Manchester and beyond.
