MCCU poised to grow, transform and thrive in 2025
As one of only three parish-based credit unions remaining in Jamaica, Manchester Co-operative Credit Union opens a landmark year with a bold rallying cry for its 50,000-plus members.

Manchester Co-operative Credit Union (1977) Limited launched its 2025 campaign at an inaugural staff and partner event dubbed “Blast Off,” held at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville. The gathering set the tone for the year ahead under a single, unifying theme: Grow, Transform and Thrive.
The message to the room was direct. In a financial landscape where the number of credit unions has steadily consolidated, MCCU stands as one of only three parish-based credit unions still serving Jamaica, a distinction its leadership sees not as a finish line, but as a mandate to keep evolving.
Building on a 73-year legacy
Founded in the post-war co-operative movement, MCCU has grown from a small band of Manchester members into an institution serving more than 50,000 members across savings, loans, insurance and remittance services. That scale, leadership noted, brings responsibility: to modernise without losing the personal, member-first service the credit union was built on.
Digitisation featured prominently in the year’s priorities, from expanded online and mobile banking to faster loan processing, alongside continued investment in the branch experience for members who prefer to do business in person.
“We are not simply surviving. We are positioning to grow, to transform the way we serve, and to help our members thrive for the next generation.”
Transforming the member experience
Transformation, in MCCU’s framing, is about more than technology. It spans product innovation, like the Dream Wheels auto loan and the Partner Plus Plan, deeper financial-literacy outreach in schools and communities, and a renewed focus on the young savers who represent the credit union’s future.
The union’s insurance offerings, including the Family Indemnity Plan, were highlighted as a pillar of the “thrive” pledge, ensuring members and their families are protected through life’s milestones.
A year to thrive
As MCCU moves through 2025, the “Blast Off” theme is intended to echo well beyond a single event. For a parish institution that has weathered decades of change while so many peers merged or closed, the ambition is clear: to remain the financial institution of choice for Manchester and beyond, growing, transforming, and helping every member thrive.
